Need some Marketing New Year’s Resolutions?
With the holidays in the rear-view mirror and 2025 already in full swing, it’s a great time for companies to think about some resolutions for their 2025 marketing. For example, what changes and improvements could help you get better results and stay relevant with your strategies and campaigns for a successful year?
Here are five tangible resolutions all brands can commit to:
1. Focus on your metrics
It’s one thing to put strategies and tactics in play, but what’s the point if you don’t know if they are truly working? Commit to a monthly deep dive into your marketing metrics using Google Analytics, social media insights, and CRM software to help you understand what is driving traffic, leads, and conversions to maximize your ROI.
2. Leverage video content and connect with audiences visually
Love it or hate it, there’s no denying that video continues to be one of the most engaging forms of marketing as we move into 2025 and beyond. Between social media, YouTube, or even live streaming, video offers a compelling way to connect with your audiences. Both long- and short-form content engages with audiences to provide visually appealing media and, TBH, should be done more frequently by companies of all sizes. Remember, it doesn’t need to be a big production — even video content of company events or announcements personalizes your business and gets eyes on your brand.
3. Focus as much on retention as acquisition
Getting new clients and customers helps growth, but it’s also to a company’s advantage to make sure your current audience is prioritized. Foster deeper, meaningful relationships throughout the year and invest in long-term customer value to maintain your current base. A great way to do this could be sending personalized emails or check-ins monthly and maybe show some appreciation during key milestones in your business relationship. Who doesn’t like a freebie thrown their way once a while?
4. Celebrate your employees
Employee advocacy through a company’s various channels is becoming more and more common. Feature key personalities and achievements throughout your company to humanize your brand for audiences to see. In doing so, a company can positively impact their workforce, leading to better productivity, morale, and results. Announce new hires and make them feel special and appreciated for being a part of your journey. Social media is a great way to share this type of content, and all companies should make it a resolution to highlight their workforce monthly.
5. Stay flexible, change is constant
A key to success this year and in the future will be for companies and brands to always be prepared to pivot quickly in an unpredictable market. What once took weeks to spread across channels can sometimes take just couple of hours with social media and other platforms. Adaptability, innovation, and a willingness to take risks should be a mindset and resolution for any marketer to stick to throughout 2025.
New Year’s resolutions might seem like extra work, but the longer you stick with them the more they can become the norm and positively impact your company, culture, and results. Following one or more of the resolutions above can do just that — and at least they are easier to stick to than giving up ice cream!
